Sunday Holy Communion & Evening Service
For those seeking a contemplative church service in Caboolture, each Sunday the Abbey Church holds a Holy Communion service at 9.30 am and an Evening Service at 6.00pm.
The Holy Communion service, which uses a Western form of the Liturgy of St James the Apostle, includes hymns, prayers, a sermon and sacred and traditional rituals. This includes the consecration of the bread and wine as the body and blood of Christ, which is offered by the presiding bishop or priest to parishioners and to which all visitors to the church are invited to partake. Young children are invited at that time to also receive a blessing.
The service lasts about 60 – 90 minutes and is followed by a morning tea at the Abbey Hall to which all are welcome.
The Evening service commences at 6.00 pm and lasts for about 30 – 45 mins. This service includes hymns, contemplative prayers, a short inspirational talk and a meditation.

The Liturgical Calendar
Throughout the year the Abbey Church also holds special services to mark specific Holy days or seasons. These include Lent, Holy Week and Easter; Ascension, Whitsun and Trinity Sundays; All Souls, All Saints and Michael and All Angels Sundays; Advent, Christmas and New Years Eve.
Special Sacred Celebrations
Other special services and events include the Blessing of the Pets on the Sunday nearest to St Francis’ Day (4 October), The Festival of the Divine Father held on the 23rd and 24th June, Holy Communion Sunday service held outdoors on the first Sunday in September, and a special sung service for the Festival of Christ the King which is held on the last Sunday in October.

Upcoming Special Services
Christmas at The Abbey Church
Each Christmas the Abbey Church choir sings carols at the Upper Caboolture Farmer’s Assembly Hall and at Toorbul. This is a tradition that has been part of the Abbey Community life since arriving in Queensland.
The Abbey Church also holds a special carol service which is held outdoors under the stars (weather permitting). This special service includes the setting up of the crib that is a feature in the Abbey Church during the Christmas season. While the choir sing traditional carols, the young children from the congregation are invited to participate in this pageant and carry the statues to Fr Thomas who places the figures in the stable setting-up the traditional Nativity scene.
One of the most sacred and moving of the Christmas services is Midnight Mass. It commences at 11.50 pm on Christmas Eve. The church, decorated with evergreens: holly and ivy, and with the soft glow of the candles flickering on the altar, offers a welcome to parishioners into what feels like a warm embrace yet also there is sense of anticipation and excitement as if something special is going to take place. And this occurs just a few moments after midnight, when tradition tells us the Christ Child was born, and the priest holds up a lighted candle representing the return of the light to earth. For one sacred moment the world stands still and we are each transported back in time to that first Christmas night in a stable in Bethlehem.
The Abbey Church also has a Holy Communion Service at 9.30 am on Christmas day for those wishing to attend.

Weddings
A heritage chapel wedding beneath medieval stained glass. Ask us anything, there is no pressure and all enquiries are welcome.
Baptisms
Infant and adult baptisms at the font. You do not need to be a regular attendee to have your child baptised here.
Funerals
Funerals and memorial services by arrangement. You do not need to have attended regularly, or ever. A conversation is where this starts.
